Force India's Adrian Sutil (GER) and Paul di Resta (GBR) finished 11th and 12th in the season opener Australian Grand Prix. The stewards after the post race inspection decided to disqualify the two Sauber's of Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi who finished 7th and 8th respectively, due to technical infringement.

As a result both Force India cars which finished 11th and 12th move up the ladder and grab the last 2 spots for points 9th and 10th (3points in total) in the first race of the season.
